My Fenn Hopes and Dreams
"Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future"
-Robert H. Schuller
I walked on to the Fenn campus staring the large white buildings. Strolled down the old black
path heading towards the entrance. As I walk into the front door I reflected on how things have
changed in the past year. Lost friends, new teachers and a new beginning as a Fenn ninth
As a ninth grader now I carry much more responsibility. Students look up to me as a role
model and a leader. Realizing this, I began to ponder on what I wanted to accomplish in my last
year at Fenn.
Last year in 8th grade I tried out for basketball team and I made the team. Our season started
and the captains were set. During every practice our captains would give us advice on how to
do different things. Before every game our captains would make a speech that would amp up
the team. On every Fenn sports team I've been on, the captain on the team has always been
looked on for advice and leadership. I have yet to be a captain on a sports team but I would
really love to become one. I want to be the person on a team who give advice and ultimately
help a team grow and that's what being a captain is. I also want to become a leader where a
team can rally around my words and action. I don't just want to be a leader on the court I want
to be a leader on the court too.
Every since I joined Fenn I looked at the ninth graders as leaders. In 4th grade, I remember
walking down the hallway and looking up at them and thinking I would love to be like him one
day. Now it's my turn to be that kind of figure to the new students. As a ninth grader I'm now
looked up to by the younger kids. I want to a leader, the kind of leader that students can go to
when they are lost, need help, advice or just a friend, a role model, just like the ninth graders
before me. Im going to take the new students under my wing and help guide through their first
few months of there Fenn career. The Fenn motto is "Sua sponte" which translate to its in your
hands. I'm putting the responsibility of helping out the Fenn community into my hands.
