Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Texas on a charge of injury to a child. Also this month the Ravens running back Ray Rice was also arrested for domestic abuse, it's the second time this month an NFL running back has been arrested for abuse. Peterson has been one of the best running backs in the NFL since he has joined the league. His stats for his 10 year career are 2,054 rushing attempts, 10,190 overall yards, 5.0 yards per carry and 86 touchdowns. Peterson can face up to two years in jail with this charge as well as a 10 thousand dollar fine. Probation is also an option for people who haven't had any other run ins with the law. As many outlets have reported, Peterson allegedly had beaten his 4 year old son that lives in Minnesota. Many reports have said that Peterson beat his son with a tree branch, others are reporting that he hit his son with a belt. After the child returned back home to Minnesota the boys mother noticed obvious cuts and bruises. His mother decided to take him to the hospital and the conclusion was that the child was abused.
Peterson was booked into Montgomery Texas county jail around 1:15 am. He posted 15 thousand dollars bond, took his mugshot and left around 1:45 am. Following this incident the Minnesota Vikings have made Peterson inactive for Sundays game versus the New England Patriots. Peterson has been the franchise player for the Vikings for a long time now. With his absence, the Vikings will have to find someone to replace this high caliber player for the time being. Without Peterson the Vikings with have to move the ball through the air as they're run game will not be as good. The Patriots secondary can be a problem for Matt Cassel the Vikings quarterback as he's facing Cornerback DaRelle Revis and Cornerback Bradon Browner. If Peterson was playing he would have a great game. The Patriots run defense wasn't very good in week 1 against the dolphins, and Peterson being as good as he is, would've gave them problems.
